Loose Women and Pop Out Cakes

Keeping with our cake theme that Mrs. Crankipants started with yesterday’s rant about baked goods, here’s a pop-up birthday card I cooked up for a friend recently.

Once again it is a combination of vintage images, colors and patterns put together in a digital collage using a combination of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and my own two hands.

This is the front of the card.

This is a Photoshop file of the inside of the card flattened out with the cake lady thrown in to give you a rough idea of position. The cake lady was a separate file, printed separately and glued into place. I created the linoleum tile floor in Illustrator and imported it into my Photoshop file.

Here’s a photo of the assembled card. It was printed on a little Epson printer which is fairly decent for a one-off card such as this.

Recognize the cake? It ended up being recycled for the new logo banner for Step Away From The Pastry Bag. Nothing goes to waste at our house!
