How To Sew A Camera Pouch

I never leave the house without two things – red lipstick and my point and shoot. I recently acquired a new camera, which was smaller than my old one and it’s case was too bulky for my bag. I decided to sew a new pouch using some leftover fabric and a piece of cord.

This is an easy project and quick – I finished this in less than a half hour. Let’s get started…..

Cut two pieces of fabric and one piece of quilt batting 5″ x 16″.  Place the two pieces of fabric right side facing, and lay them on top of the quilt batting – pin together.

Place the cord in between the pieces of fabric 2″ from the end and pin into place.

Sew around three sides, leaving the cord end open. Trim excess cord.

At the top of the sewn edge, locate the center and measure out 2 1/2″, mark with a fabric pen. Then measure 3 1/2″ down and mark, draw a line and sew. Cut off excess fabric.

Turn right side out, fold in raw edge and sew.

Fold up the cord end, it should measure 5″ in length, pin, and stitch up the sides.

A new camera pouch!

I am going to make one of these! I have a black camera case for my little point and shoot, but I can never find it in my bag that is black on the inside! All my portable electronic devices will have their special little sewn case a la Tina! I made one for my lap top for my Florida trip. I will post a photo of it 🙂

I had the same problem finding my old camera case – black case/black bag. When are they going to invent a bag that lights up on the inside? Maybe that’s a project we should work on together.

I love your lap top bag! The fabric is fantastic, and I like the ribbon pull. And P.S. – I get a TON of compliments on the tote bag you made!!
