Handwarmers

While we didn’t get get as much snow as the forecasters promised, it is nippy out there. Yesterday was a snow day, and the boy and I weren’t about to be cooped up in the house. There were walks to go on, pizza parlors to visit, and sidewalks to shovel! Before we embarked on our adventures, I zipped off a few handwarmers on my sewing machine. I cut 3 1/2″ felt squares, sewed up three sides using a 1/4″ seam allowance, filled them 3/4 of the way up with rice, then stitched up the open side. To heat them up, microwave for 30 seconds, then for 10 second increments, until the pouches are warm. Be careful not to make them too hot!

Very creative! and rice won’t pop… Or will it??? 🙂

  2. Very clever. I like the fact you can warm them up.

    Jim – No, it doesn’t!

Maureen – It made our trek to the Y a little more bearable! 🙂
