South Philly Does Christmas

Part of the magic of South Philly at Christmastime, is how they decorate. An ornate, weathered alley gate is adorned with an evergreen wreath.

This store with a security gate showcases a red ribbon vintage wreath complete with a bell and bunches of grapes that most likely belonged to their Nonna. Down the block, is a gorgeous window box with evergreen branches, holly berries, and stars.

Nativity scenes share large picture windows with Santa Claus, and a small side street is lined on both sides with inflatable characters. Here’s hoping that South Philly remains it’s goofy, gritty, nostalgic, unique self. Merry Christmas!
