Bidding Farewell to a Power Mac G4 Gigabit Ethernet

With a sad heart, I bring news of the passing of a faithful friend – my son’s G4 PowerMac Gigabit Ethernet. Sniff!Although it was born in the year 2000, it was ancient as far as desktop computers are concerned. I’ve made a number of augmentations to it to keep it youthful, useful and vibrant since it came into my possession a little over 4 years ago. It served it’s users well long after much younger models have been consigned to the scrap heap.
PowerMac G4 with More AugmentationsIt was a replacement for a younger and faster eMac that gave up the ghost shortly after its warranty expired. I bought this Mac and added a processor upgrade, video card and a PCI SATA card making it much superior to the all-in-one model it was replacing. It was for my son and he rode it hard for the past 4 years. Alas, the power supply gave out.

All of this reminds me of a song, and since I am not a song smith, I will let the immortal Terry Jacks sum up my feelings:

Yes, I am cruel, and I have crap taste in music.

So what will replace it?

Stay tuned to find out!!!

  1. You are cruel Joe

  2. Joe Williams says:

What can I say? Terry Jacks says it better than I do.
