    Adolph Tumser appears to be the one who’s thumbing his nose. A little history here:
    Adolph was born in Amaliendorf, Austria in 1862 and immigrated to Olean, NY with parents and 2 brothers in 1871. His father and brother Edward were farmers, his brother Alexander was a tailor, and Adolph was a bartender before becoming a cigar maker.
    In 1892 he spent a few months in Costa Rica as a colonist with the Central American Land Colonization and Mining Company.
    Adolph married Catherine Leighton in 1893, had 8 children, moved to Port Allegany, PA. before 1904 and died there in 1933.
