TV news programs did articles on the success of that particular poster comparing it to the famous Betty Grable photo that GI’s carried with them during World War II. The former Mrs. Lee Majors was elevated to the status of super stardom and Charlie’s Angels shot to the top of the ratings. Agents, public relations firms and anybody who had a printing press cranked out images of stars, starlets and anybody who had a following in the hopes that lightning would strike twice. This ad was from Godzilla King of the Monsters No. 18 published by Marvel Comics in 1978. It was Marvel’s attempt to breath life in the then moribund Godzilla series that had mostly been banished to the kiddie matinee ghetto. They also attempted to weave the big green guy into the Marvel Universe at the time. SHIELD and most of the Howling Commandos were regular characters and the Avengers and the Fantastic Four guested here and there.
