Hallway on 9th Street

9th-StreetHall

Not too long ago, a 7up bottling plant in our neighborhood was bulldozed to make way for new townhouses. I have a soft spot in my heart for old buildings, there is a certain attention to detail sorely lacking in new buildings. Yesterday, I was walking down 9th Street and a door on the side of a store was open – imagine my glee when I saw the tiled vestibule with gorgeous wallpaper, and the stained glass door that’s seen some better days leading up to the stairway to the apartments above the store. I must have walked past this place a million times and had no idea of what beauty was just beyond that door. It’s what I love about my neighborhood – you never know what treasures you’re going to find!

A lot of the houses around here have tiled vestibules – including ours!
