Chinatown Express

Chinatown ExpressThis is one of my photo elective photos, but it was not shot in the Southern New Jersey town where I lived with my parents. This time I went wandering around the City of Brotherly Love just across the Delaware River from the place I called home. I guess I was trying to capture a little urban verisimilitude.

Sadly, I don’t know where I took this picture. The place could have been within Philadelphia’s Chinatown or they were just using the name Chinatown. I don’t remember. I don’t know if the place is still standing or if it was obliterated long ago. It was 1982, and the area within this frame looks a little worse for wear. If anybody out there does remember the place and/or location, feel free to leave your info in the comments section below.

As it turns out, my friend Karen used to live above this restaurant. She wrote on the Facebook post:

This is 102 South 13th street– 13th and Drury (between Chestnut and Sansom). We lived on the 4th floor in the mid 80s until we had a fire in 1988.

So that solves that mystery. The place is long gone. Now that I know the locale, I’ll swing by to see what’s there now. I’ll bring my camera and share the results!

Probably. Not any more. It’s a one story bar now.
