Holiday Fatigue

it-came-from-the-SB-bannerHoliday FatigueSomewhere at the end of the ’80s I started dating a girl just after the holidays. I sketched out this little cartoon combining Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter for her as a gag greeting card.

This was back when my weapon of choice was Rapidograph technical pens. I always kept a few loaded with ink and ready to go. My world was still an analog one at the time. I made my drawings on bristol; shot photostats of the results and handed them off to editors to print as spot illustrations for newspapers printed in ink on newsprint.

Former Weapon of ChoiceThe cartoon above was never published being that it was a gift, but the photostat I have of it remains and remarkably it has not yellowed or degraded. It lasted much longer than the relationship did.
