Dan Love served in the army and found himself in Phu Loi, Vietnam about 50 years ago. He was a shutterbug his whole life and took a number of photographs and slides of his time in Southeast Asia. He uncovered and scanned the negatives about 10 years ago, and the results of his work can be seen at his Flickr page.
Sadly, Dan died about a week ago after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.
Dan was probably the most generous guy I have ever known. I’m not sure where I would be without him. Most of what I know about computers and desktop publishing came from him. One of the most important things he did was throw an Other World Computing catalog at me about 15 or so years ago. It showed the possibilities of extending the life and usefulness of older Mac computers with upgraded components. He got me fired up, as he did with everybody he knew.
Dan, you will be sorely missed.
