Over the weekend, I passed a house in my neighborhood with a large planter full of basil and a sign that encouraged folks to help themselves. Yesterday, another neighbor was sharing their bounty of peppers. I envy my urban gardening neighbors, as this year’s tomato plant has only yielded two tomatoes – TWO! Sigh. Oh well, there’s always next summer – here’s hoping I won’t have to buy any tomatoes, and maybe have extra to put in a basket on my front steps.
