Our niece Katie is going to\u00a0make our family a little bit bigger next month – she’s having a baby boy! Katie is a roller derby queen who loves donuts, sriracha, and has a great sense of humor. Which will come in handy in the delivery room – you see, the kids in our family have noggins the size of bowling balls.\u00a0You find yourself talking your 5 year old out of being a fireman for Halloween because you know\u00a0the helmet on the department store costume doesn’t have a ghost of a chance fitting\u00a0on his head. On the plus side – we do make spectacularly<\/em> good lookin’ kids! What was I talking about? Oh yeah – Katie (and Patrick) are having a baby – and I made this\u00a0quilt to celebrate\u00a0the happy occasion!\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I started by\u00a0working on\u00a0the layout in Illustrator – playing around with the various sizes and color of the blocks.<\/p>\n

Next, I scanned the fabrics in Photoshop to get an idea of what the finished product would look like. Then it was a matter of cutting the fabric and sewing the quilt top together! This quilt measures 36″ x 42″.<\/p>\n
