Her camera was aimed toward the South on Broad Street just a couple of doors from <strong><em>Anderson Hall<\/em><\/strong> which is now <em><strong>The Atlantic Building. <\/strong><\/em>She was probably in front of <em><strong>The Academy of Music.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>At the time, the shot was no big deal &#8212; it was right outside of school. So what? Big deal! But now that some three decades have gone by, it&#8217;s an interesting little time capsule. Playing at what is now the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Merriam_Theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>Merriam Theater<\/strong><\/em><\/a> but was the <strong>Shubert Theatre<\/strong> at the time was the amazing song stylings of<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Steve_and_Eydie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme<\/em><\/a><\/strong>. At the time, I would have scoffed at their act as being antiquated preferring the punk\/new wave acts like the ones featured on the flyers pasted to the subway stop in this shot.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Broad and Manning - 1981 by Tina &amp; Joe, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/willceau\/15555376160\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7524\/15555376160_d7a7b2ef86_z.jpg?resize=640%2C389&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Broad and Manning - 1981\" width=\"640\" height=\"389\" \/><\/a><em><strong>Steve and Eydie<\/strong><\/em> were in their prime at this time and they doubtlessly put on terrific shows whereas a lot of the punk and new wave bands were arguing over what came next on their set. If I knew then what I knew now, I would have gone, probably repeatedly, to see Steve and Eydie. Hearing, like youth, is wasted on the young.<\/p>\n<p>Note the parking lot in the left hand corner. The concrete bunker known as the <em>Wilma Theater <\/em>now sits there.
