We had to shoot the photos as well as process the negatives and make the prints. I don\u2019t recall what the particulars of the class assignments were although I can tell from looking at the negatives which were the assignments and which ones were shot just to finish off a roll. The shots to finish a roll are a lot more interesting. While my fellow students mostly resided and shot their photographs in the vibrant metropolis of Philadelphia, I lived and did most of my shooting in and around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Westville,+NJ+08093\/@39.8610751,-75.1383475,14z\/data=%213m1%214b1%214m2%213m1%211s0x89c6cf913267241d:0xa7086335a8b8b088\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Westville, NJ<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I was walking along Gateway Boulevard in the fall of 1982 snapping off <a href=\"http:\/\/willceau.com\/news\/2014\/11\/05\/the-photo-elective-the-mardi-gras-club\/\" target=\"_blank\">various<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/willceau.com\/news\/2014\/12\/30\/school-is-out\/\" target=\"_blank\">shots<\/a> when I guess the quality and direction of light on this overpass struck me as being worthy of a few frames of film.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Overpass Party by Tina &amp; Joe, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/willceau\/16288404028\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8611\/16288404028_3b97aeda0c_z.jpg?resize=640%2C391&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Overpass Party\" width=\"640\" height=\"391\" \/><\/a>I walked around the overpass looking for an interesting angle for a photograph and came upon the remains of what looked to be a minor <em>Oktoberfest. <\/em>This looked to have been a popular party spot. I&#8217;m not sure if these were the bitter remains of an illicit, under-aged bacchanal or whether this was from thirsty folks leaving the nearby liquor store never managing to get those packages home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back in the 1980s, I went to art school, and I along with all of the other illustration majors were required to take a minor course in photography.
