As of yesterday, our neighborhood pool closed for the season. Due to budgetary\u00a0limitations, the city can only keep them open for about six weeks in the summer. However, those six weeks are a little slice of heaven when the temperatures are in the 90s and the humidity is unbearable.<\/p>\n

In the eight years we’ve been frequenting our pool we’ve met a lot of great people. They’re strangers whose names you\u00a0know by August. Sometimes, you even run into them in the fall or winter, and stop on the street to catch up. The best part is the staff – who are part cop, part disciplinarian, and part host of a cocktail party.
