I had an idea where I was playing off graveyards for people such as <a href=\"http:\/\/willceau.com\/news\/2015\/03\/26\/among-the-forgotten\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>this shot<\/em><\/a> with shots in auto graveyards. Dead people. Dead cars.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ooh, arty!<\/em><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure of the artistic merit of my photographic endeavors, but I did manage to catch places and things that are long gone. They were not necessarily cherished places, but more of the <em>&#8220;Oh, yeah, I remember that&#8221; <\/em>places. I think this was shot at a junkyard that was up near the circle where Westville ended and Brooklawn began. From the aerial detail it looks like it has long since been cleaned up.<\/p>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><a title=\"junk yard\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/willceau\/15513935371\/in\/photolist-pCUYuk\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm3.staticflickr.com\/2950\/15513935371_7e85f92288_z.jpg?resize=640%2C386&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"junk yard\" width=\"640\" height=\"386\" \/><\/a>This is another shot that I probably took the same day. <\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Photo Elective<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Back in the 1980s, I went to art school, and I along with all of the other <strong>illustration majors<\/strong> were required to take a minor course in photography. We had to shoot the photos as well as process the negatives and make prints. I don\u2019t recall what the particulars of the class assignments were although I can tell from looking at the negatives which were the assignments and which ones were shot just to finish off a roll. The shots to finish a roll are a lot more interesting. While my fellow students mostly resided and shot their photographs in the vibrant metropolis of Philadelphia, I lived and did most of my shooting in and around the staid and solid small town of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Westville,+NJ+08093\/@39.8610751,-75.1383475,14z\/data=%213m1%214b1%214m2%213m1%211s0x89c6cf913267241d:0xa7086335a8b8b088\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Westville, New Jersey<\/strong><\/a>.<script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" type=\"mce-no\/type\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As I was processing the scan of this film negative I sort of remembered what I was trying to do with these art school photos back in 1982.
