Now, thanks to these handsomely embroidered patches, you too can effect the look of counter-cultural rebellion just like everyone else!<\/em> All you need is one dollar; an article of clothing preferably denim, and the ability to sew or an incredibly indulgent parent who possesses the ability to sew. POOF!<\/strong> Now you are one of the cool kids!<\/em><\/p>\n

I’m not sure if the NOW<\/strong> patch was for the National Organization of Women<\/em> or was a declaration of the time.<\/p>\n

I have no idea what 439C in the lower left corner is. If somebody out there knows, please chime in!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>This sort of thing amazes me now that I look back at it. It’s hard to tell from the halftone pictured above, but you can make out the scarf and flying cap of Charles Schulz’s Snoopy.<\/strong><\/em> I seriously doubt that Schulz would have lent his characters to a company making cheezy patches with a urine joke. This is doubtless a bootleg, and it was being sold in a national magazine (Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos.<\/em>) Bootleg plush Snoopy dogs used to be everywhere in the early 1970s. I remember tons of them at church carnivals and games of chance on the boardwalks at the Jersey shore. Tons!<\/strong><\/em> I guess they were easy to make. If Charles Schulz had a piece of every one of those bootlegs, he could have bought his own island!<\/em><\/p>\n

Once again, this is from the same issue of Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos <\/em><\/strong>from which I’ve gotten a lot of the other ads. It’s the gift that keeps giving!<\/p>\n
