These muffins are made with chunks of pears with a crumb topping, and are a great alternative in the morning to my usual Cheerios! <!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 cups flour<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup granulated sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon nutmeg<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons baking powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon baking soda<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>2 large eggs<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 cup buttermilk*<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>4 pears, peeled, cored, and chopped<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup light brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon flour<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 350\u00ba. Line two muffin tins with 18 baking papers.<\/li>\n<li>In a large bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together.<\/li>\n<li>Add eggs, oil, buttermilk, and vanilla &#8211; stir until well combined. Fold in chopped pears and spoon into baking papers.<\/li>\n<li>In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, flour and butter &#8211; mash with a fork, or your fingers. Sprinkle over batter, and bake for 20 to 25 minutes &#8211; testing with a toothpick.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>*If you don&#8217;t have buttermilk &#8211; pour 1 tablespoon of white vinegar into a measuring cup, and fill it with whole milk to the one cup line.
