It was gifted to me by Albina Blanchette, an artist and resident of a convalescent home I worked at in high school. When she discovered I was interested in art, she broke out some of her pieces and talked about them.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" data-attachment-id=\"38801\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/willceau.com\/news\/2022\/09\/14\/miss-blanchettes-painting-2\/stjoes\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/willceau.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/StJoes.jpg?fit=270%2C168&amp;ssl=1\" data-orig-size=\"270,168\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-title=\"StJoes\" data-image-description=\"\" data-image-caption=\"\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/willceau.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/StJoes.jpg?fit=270%2C168&amp;ssl=1\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38801\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/willceau.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/StJoes.jpg?resize=270%2C168&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"270\" height=\"168\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Her method was dipping a palette knife in paint and dragging it across a sheet of paper. Miss Blanchette would look at the results \u2013 this appeared to be a landscape \u2013 she then went back in with a brush and worked on it. The final, which was about the size of a business card &#8211; was cropped, glued to a piece of paper, and signed. I adore the beachy vibe of this composition. This technique of painting is what I refer to as &#8220;Happy Accidents&#8221;, and could easily be a rainy day project with kids.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sharedaddy sd-sharing-enabled\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I found this painting while searching through a box of old photos the other day.
