\"\"I’m not yet ready to declare the juvenile sketchbook I wrote about recently<\/a> as the NEW<\/em> Sketchbook from Heaven, <\/em>but I do usually keep it close at hand, and I am busily filling its cheap pages with scribbles. It may be that I’m on a streak, but I think the goofy sketchbook with the glow-in-the-dark cover may have something to do with it.<\/p>\n

I’m going to start trawling the local Target to see if they will carry any more this holiday season. I sure hope they will, and I intend on stocking up.<\/p>\n

\"\"While I doodle, I watch cheesy films on my favorite streaming channel TubiTV<\/em> which seems to be stacked fairly deep with Euro-trash horror films from the 1960s through the 1980s. I am chasing down movies that I’ve only ever heard about or maybe read about in Famous Monsters<\/em> or Fangoria<\/em> but have never seen. These include the films of Spanish horror superstar Paul Naschy<\/a><\/em> who played Waldemar Daninsky<\/em>, a Polish nobleman cursed with lycanthropy, in seven movies. He really liked playing a werewolf apparently. He played a number of other horror roles as well and was sort of like Spain’s Lon Chaney, Jr. or Vincent Price though he looked like a fit version of John Belushi.<\/p>\n

As Se\u00f1<\/span>or <\/em>Naschy<\/em> tears through victims in the Spanish countryside I am dragging ideas from the dusty corners of my brain and forcing them down upon the little sketchbook. Half baked notions of stories that I have had bopping around my cranium for years are taking form in that goofy little scratch pad and are being fleshed out. Monsters battle it out. Mortals flee in terror. Ghouls! Ghosts! Goblins! It’s all of the stuff I’ve loved since childhood. It’s all the stuff I’ve been drawing since I was in kindergarten. I may squeeze a comic story out of this.<\/p>\n

\"Comic…or I just may have a lot of fun filling up these silly little sketchbooks. Time will tell.<\/p>\n
