Chili<\/em> was an obvious Archie<\/em> knock-off in the era when comic companies published more than just costumed crime fighters. There were war, western, romance, detective, funny animal and a number of other comic book genres in addition to super-heroes all stuffed into spinning racks at newsstands and corner stores. If something was successful as Archie<\/em> was, it spawned imitators. Publishers did whatever they could to separate kids from their pocket change.
