This was my first attempt at quilting, a gift for a new addition to the family. I wanted to create a one of a kind piece that was cheery, with bold patterns, and no pastel colors. Since the sex of the baby was unknown, I chose orange and green as the dominate colors.<\/p>\n

The quilt is a small version of Amy Butler’s Brick Path Quilt.<\/a> It measures 35″ x 42″ and features fabrics from Michael Miller, Amy Butler, Denyse Schmidt, Park Slope, and Prints Charming. In order to visualize the arrangement of pattern and color, I scanned the fabric and created thumbnail sketches to scale on my computer. It was machine quilted over the course of a few afternoons.<\/p>\n
