Having finished up the Canson XL Mixed Media Sketchbook<\/em><\/a>, I am working here and there in a few different sketchbooks.<\/p>\n

The subject is still The Teenage Beast.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As far as discount sketchbooks, the Ucreate<\/em> sketchbook<\/a> from Ticonderoga is a pretty decent pad of paper. I like how it takes inks. The surface of the paper is smooth, and it’s not too thin. It works out well as a sketchbook and is cheap enough where it works as well as a notebook.<\/p>\n

\"\"Above is another view of the Beast<\/em> plowing through a bunch of punks. The perspective is a little wonky, but I’m still working out the dynamics of the scene. It’s where my main character starts to shed his humanity to become the monster of the story.<\/p>\n

I’ve broken out my 1264 mixed media sketchbook manufactured by Fabriano and I like the way the Sailor Fude De Mannen fountain pen works on it. The paper is similar to the Canson XL Mixed Media pad in that the paper is a little toothy, but I think the Fabriano is a little better than the Canson.<\/p>\n

Below is a work in progress. I’m not sure of how to deal with the background.

\nI took the scan and digitally cheated a background in with Affinity Photo<\/em> just to see what it would look like. I think I may have to start with the background and work my way up to the foreground.<\/p>\n
