Joe and I sat outside and waited. Four kids &#8211; that was it my friends. Growing up, I <strong><em>loved <\/em><\/strong>everything about Halloween, making costumes, going out with my friends, and candy! That was back in the days when you got some &#8220;fun sized&#8221; candy bars, but an equal amount of regular sized bars.<\/p>\n<p>Our street used to be a popular destination. Do kids do &#8220;Trunk-or-Treats&#8221; and bag going from house to house? So my dilemma was &#8211; should I gorge myself with the Kit Kats, M&amp;Ms, Nestle Crunch, and Reese&#8217;s cups in front of the TV or bake something fun with them? The latter won out &#8211; and they&#8217;re pretty good! <!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 cup butter, room temperature<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup light brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup granulated sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 large egg<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 cups flour<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon baking soda<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>1 cup candy bars, chopped<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup M&amp;Ms<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Grease an 8&#8243; x 8&#8243; baking pan, and line with parchment paper. Preheat oven to 325\u00ba.<\/li>\n<li>In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugars until creamy &#8211; about 2 to 3 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Beat in the egg and vanilla.<\/li>\n<li>Add the flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined.<\/li>\n<li>Fold in 1 cup of a mixture of candy bars and M&amp;Ms. Evenly press dough into prepared pan. Top with remainder of the candy, gently pressing into the dough.
