A judicious application of STINK LOADS<\/strong> will keep all of those pesky tobacco moochers at bay. This seems like a product that’s begging for a come-back now that a pack of butts runs $5 to $6! Gosh, there about as expensive as modern comics!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>This ad was in issue No. 2 of John Carter Warlord of Mars<\/strong> published by Marvel Comics in 1977.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Marvel had licensed the character from Edgar Rice Burroughs along with Tarzan. It was drawn by Gil Kane and lushly inked by Rudy Nebres. I enjoyed it immensely, but it didn’t fare as well as the other licensed comic Marvel was putting out at the same time – Star Wars. <\/strong><\/em>The<\/strong> John Carter <\/strong><\/em>series ran a little over two years – 28 issues.<\/strong>
\n<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The John Carter<\/strong><\/em> movie opens this weekend, and while I wish them the best, I’m afraid that they’re a day late and a quarter of a billion dollars short. The criticisms of the trailers are true, it looks like Attack of the Clones<\/strong><\/em> and a couple dozen other fantasy movies. It looks like those movies because Burroughs was laying the ground work for those novels, movies and comics back before the Titanic<\/strong> went on it’s maiden voyage. Burroughs’ work has always deserved the epic motion picture treatment, but they waited too long. Ultimately it should have been made back in the 1970s by Ray Harryhausen<\/a>. I could see John Phillip Law<\/strong><\/a> as Carter and Caroline Munro<\/strong><\/a> as Dejah Thoris.
