It was drawn by Gil Kane and lushly inked by Rudy Nebres. I enjoyed it immensely, but it didn&#8217;t fare as well as the other licensed comic Marvel was putting out at the same time &#8211; <em><strong>Star Wars. <\/strong><\/em>The<strong><\/strong><em><strong> John Carter <\/strong><\/em>series ran a little over two years &#8211; 28 issues.<strong><\/strong><em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The <em><strong>John Carter<\/strong><\/em> movie opens this weekend, and while I wish them the best, I&#8217;m afraid that they&#8217;re a day late and a quarter of a billion dollars short. The criticisms of the trailers are true, it looks like <em><strong>Attack of the Clones<\/strong><\/em> and a couple dozen other fantasy movies. It looks like those movies because Burroughs was laying the ground work for those novels, movies and comics back before the<strong> Titanic<\/strong> went on it&#8217;s maiden voyage. Burroughs&#8217; work has always deserved the epic motion picture treatment, but they waited too long. Ultimately it should have been made back in the 1970s by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0366063\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ray Harryhausen<\/a>. I could see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0492342\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>John Phillip Law<\/strong><\/a> as Carter and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0613098\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Caroline Munro<\/strong><\/a> as Dejah Thoris.
