Teenage Beast

Teenage Beast
Back in the mid-1980s, I was working on what I thought would be a classic monster like Universal Studios’ classic stable of monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolf-Man only my monster would be firmly established in the then current milieu of PUNK. The creature was based on the Cramps song “The Goo Goo Muck” which was a cover of an obscure 1962 recording by Ronnie Cook & The Gaylads. I was afraid that the term Goo Goo Muck was trademarked or copyrighted in some way so I called my character the Teenage Beast. I worked on some drawings, some notes and wrote an outline, but for reasons forgotten, my ardor for the project faded. My work went into storage.

Flash forward nearly 40 years to Christmas 2024 when I was rummaging around some flat file cabinets in my studio and found a pair of pencil drawings of the Teenage Beast which I decided to finish with my Sailor Fude De Mannen fountain pen. I was pleased with the results and I found myself fired up about a cartoon character I created while Reagan was still in the White House.

So I am working on this character anew, and I will be collecting drawings old and new in this gallery page.
