The Friday Five is a series of collages by Tina Garceau, each created from exactly five elements. The limitation is intentional: every image, object, and texture has to earn its place.
Tina works with a mix of found photographs, mid-century catalog images, found objects, and her own digital and analog photography. The five-element rule can be both a challenge and a source of inspiration, leading to unexpected combinations and connections.
As Tina describes it, “Limiting oneself to only five elements is both a blessing and a curse.” The challenge is finding the right balance between what is available and what the finished piece wants to become.
In The Friday Five, Tina explores the possibilities that come from restriction—how unrelated images and objects can be brought together to create something new.
