I was rooting through my sketchbooks looking for old sketches that would have worked out for a Monkey & Bird idea, but of course, I got sidetracked.
This is a drawing of a pair of ghouls as envisioned for a horror comic idea that never quite took wing. Ghouls being corpse eaters are not highly regarded in the supernatural realm. Being that they are the lowest of the low, I decided to make them the comic book geeks of the monster world. In the story idea they would deal in black market relics – trading remains of dead celebrities like trading cards. It sounds grim, but I was playing it for laughs.
This was done all the way back in 1986 with a technical pen in a wire-bound sketchbook.
