This is THE END

…or it could be. I may have figured out the end of my story and I am working my way backwards.

Pen and ink drawing of the Teenage Beast going back to hell

The Teenage Beast in a fiery conflagration is sent back to whence it came.

I never planned on revisiting the Teenage Beast character which I cooked up back in the mid-1980s, but I find that is where my pen and my sketchbooks are currently taking me. More than one person has told me that I ought to work it up as a story, possibly a comic book which may not be a bad idea.

I’ve been fishing through my filing cabinet, ancient notebooks and old sketchbooks to see if I had a fully fleshed out story for The Teenage Beast. I’m not finding anything complete, but I am finding a decent amount of crumbs. Rereading the old notes is a slog because some of them date from when I was still in high school. It’s difficult reading the ramblings of my teenage self, but some of the sketchbooks I kept after I got out of art school aren’t too bad. A lot of these old drawings seem to be variations of the two drawings I just completed.

So I’m jotting down notes and sketching in the sketchbooks and a story is taking form. I’m not sure what the final format will be — maybe an illustrated story or maybe a comic. I don’t know.

A doodle of my monster as he reaches the end stages of his demonic form.

I have a vague notion of where I am going — sort of like an outline. I’m trying to build the story via these key sequences which are percolating up through the pages of my sketchbook. Sometimes I hit: a lot of times I miss, but I am enjoying the process.
