The electric pencil sharpener my Father bought me while I was still in high school died yesterday. I still like and use wooden pencils, and I want to get another one, but it won’t be electric. I’m looking around eBay for a vintage, hand-crank, American-made sharpener. One that’s older than me and will outlive me. It doesn’t have to have wood grain.
I almost killed it back in art school when I had a course that pushed the use of Prismacolors. The wax-based leads stuck to the blades of the sharpener and nearly choked it to death. I was able to take it apart and clean it up. The sharpener lived to fight another day or decade or two.
