Bag FULL of HORRORS

COMICS-HEADBAG-FULL-OF-HORRORS-detThey’re TERRIFYING! SCARY, too! AND they obey your commands! Can you imagine it?

MoonBankI used to drool over ads like this in the comics and would have gladly drained my moon bank of it’s contents to have a BAG FULL OF HORRORS, but cooler heads prevailed. My sensibly frugal parents and cynical older siblings assured me that it was all too good to be true. My insistence that a promise of chattering skulls, blinking third eyes and everything that was needed to put on your very own spooky horror show was all there in black and white was met with smirk or a sad smile. Bag of Horrors DENIED!

BAG-FULL-OF-HORRORSOh, well.

CA-No-164This appeared in Captain America and the Falcon no. 164 published by Marvel Comics in 1973.

  1. Don DeLorme says:

I wish I knew someone who actually folded and bought these things (not sea monkeys, what a let down) just to find out how (un)cool they were.

  2. Tina says:

“They obey your commands” – that in itself is very appealing to me!

Sea monkeys were bogus – they didn’t look anything like the ad. I always wanted the teacup monkeys – which will probably be a post for another day.

  3. As cool as everything else is, I like the black globe in the icon!

  4. Tina says:

The globe is a bank Joe’s had since childhood – I believe it is now a bonafide antique. * snort *
On the base it says, “Save now for your trip to the moon!”
