My latest Halloween Head is based on the alien invaders from the drive-in, schlock classic Invasion of the Saucer Men released in 1957. I struggled with this one a bit because I watched the movie and kept referring back to the original design by effect artist Paul Blaisdell which were magnificent considering his paltry budget. It just wasn’t happening so I stopped looking at the movie and the stills online and worked on my impression of the monster. As it worked out, my version sort of looks like a mash-up between the Saucer Men and another Blaisdell design, the She-Creature.
This, like all of my Halloween Heads except for one, was produced in my favorite vector art program Affinity Designer.
