A buddy of mine chased down a well-worn and well loved comic that he had once owned and lost to the vagaries of time and fortune. It’s DC Super Spectacular No. 4 and was published by DC Comics in 1971. It features a number of reprinted horror stories along with a number of new for 1971 pages illustrated by the late, great master of the macabre Bernie Wrightson.
I had never seen this or heard of it before, but flipping through it’s 50 year old pages was a treat. What was unusual is that it had no ads and the image on the cover was repeated on the back. You really got a hundred pages out of this! What a bargain!
