I was a little under the weather last week which put a damper on my doodling, but I’ve come back this week with another drawing and another chunk of the Teenage Beast story.
The story takes place in the punk scene during the 1980s so inevitably there would be a scene in a punk club, and if there was going to be a punk club, I was going to need a punk band. Why not keep it in the family? I went with Brian Bubonic and The Plague.
My brother Brian’s and my first attempt at filmmaking was an 8mm opus called Brian Bubonic and The Plague which was about punk rocker Brian Bubonic, his band and his incompetent agent. It ran about 4 minutes, and it was obvious that we had a whole lot to learn about lighting, acting and cinematography, but we had a lot of fun. From that point onward our company was known as Plague Productions!
The company is no more, but I thought I would bring the band back for Teenage Beast. In the drawing below, I am working out a cartoon version of my brother’s band and cobbling together another puzzle piece of the story. Once again, this drawing was done in a Canson XL Mixed Media sketchbook using pencils and my fabulous Sailor Fude De Mannen fountain pen.
