The desktop of my new 2010 Mac mini which I call The Greenstreet
I wasn’t planning on building another cigar box mini-stack anytime soon, but eBay had other ideas.
A very clean 2010 Mac mini popped up for auction so I took a shot. I threw in a maximum bid of $37 on a whim… and was genuinely surprised when I actually won it for that amount. So much for waiting — the schedule for my next cigar box mini-stack just got moved up.
When the mini arrived, I was impressed right away. The aluminum enclosure and all the ports were spotless. The seller gave it a B rating, but it looked brand new. It really was a case of the little old lady from Pasadena who drove the car to Church on Sundays. I popped off the bottom cover for a quick look inside, and even the fan was immaculate — not a single speck of dust.
Sadly, it only had 8 GB of RAM and a 500 GB mechanical hard drive. Eventually I will upgrade it.
The drive came with a fresh install of High Sierra, but I immediately cloned my 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) drive with Adobe Creative Suite 4 over it. It will do exactly what I need it to do.
Why Sydney Greenstreet?
The eBay seller was Greencitizen. I was going to call it that just to call it something on the network, but I ended up typing Greenstreet instead. It’s all right. I love Sydney Greenstreet.
By Gad, sir, you are a character. There’s never any telling what you’ll say or do next, except that it’s bound to be something astonishing.

Snort…well done!
Now the trick is finding a cigar box I like.
