Blackberry Cold Cure

Joe came down with a doozy of a head cold over the weekend – poor guy was either sneezing or sleeping. Blackberries + ginger + lemon juice = a soothing tea which is a multiple immune booster. It’s easy to make, all of the ingredients go into one pan. You can drink it hot, or let it cool down and add ice.

  • 1 1/2 cups blackberries (or blueberries)
  • juice of 2 1/2 lemons
  • 2 thumb sizes piece of fresh ginger peeled and grated
  • 2 cups water
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  1. Push grates ginger through a fine mesh sieve.
  2. Add all the ingredients plus ginger juice into a pan and simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes. Mash the fruit with a masher or fork.
  3. Remove from heat and strain. Serve hot.
