Train Wreck
This looks to be the aftermath of a derailment that took place somewhere near where John B. Capewell used to reside. Something as unique and exciting as a train wreck was not going to escape our photographer’s lens! Sadly, there … Continue reading

Good Doggie
John B. Capewell shot a number of photographs of his family in front of this corn field which was probably in Westville, New Jersey where the Capewells resided. Back then New Jersey lived up to it’s name of The Garden … Continue reading

The Carpenters
These fellows don’t look like Capewell or any one of his relatives, but they may have been doing work on his house in Southern New Jersey. Unlike the subjects in last week’s post, these guys are smiling. They must be … Continue reading

Smile for the Camera…Oh, never mind.
I’m guessing, but this looks to be John B. Capewell’s brother-in-law, niece who showed up in last week’s photo and sister. It looks like they’re shot in the same room as last week’s shot only this trio is a little … Continue reading

Two Parents, Two Boys and a Dog
Here’s a picture of Ella, John, Sr, John, Jr and Henry O. Capewell along with the family dog. Notice John B Capewell’s hands. He’s holding a spool of string in one hand and giving the string a tug with the … Continue reading
Two Boys and a Dog
Here’s a photo of Henry O. and John B. Capewell, Jr. shot by their father John B. Capewell of Westville, NJ. This shot reminds me of Diane Arbus’s famous picture of twin girls which Stanley Kubrick appropriated for The Shining.
Fireman Capewell and an Apparatus
Keeping with our fire department theme that I started with last week’s post, here is a photo of Westville’s John B. Capewell in a firefighter’s uniform.

Oceania is the place to be…
While rooting around the Internet Archive channel on my Roku box, I found this curiosity from 1953 – Westinghouse’s Studio One presentation of George Orwell’s 1984 starring Eddie Albert!
