After making a half dozen baby quilts, I found myself with a nice amount of scraps in various shapes and sizes. I love the fabric, and I can’t bring myself to discard the scraps. I hang on to them figuring that they can be used for something especially since I recently discovered that a fabric designer’s line does indeed have a limited run. For example, Denyse Schmidt’s collection “Katie Jump Rope” which I adored – is now only available in small quantities on certain retail sites, or for a hefty price on Ebay. Lesson learned? When you find something you really like, buy yards and yards of it!!!
Rooting around in my studio, I found a pile of long strips of beloved, but no longer available fabrics in my stash. I arranged and rearranged them, and sewed them together. Then I sandwiched a piece of leftover quilt batting in between the front and back, and stitched them up. Voila! In less than twenty minutes, a new hot pad for the dining room table!

Why are you up so early on a Saturday?
I bake while you sleep.
It’s a good thing you bake while I sleep, because if you baked while you slept, you’d burn your house down. So where are my muffins?
