That’s one of the first old photos I’ve seen where someone actually looks semi-happy! 🙂
I think in the older photos I’ve posted – the long exposure times weren’t conducive to smiling. I also think that photos were a recorded portrayal of what they looked like – much like in a painted portrait. Not that they weren’t happy, it’s just not something they wanted on film. This photo is a later one – judging by her hat, looks like the 1920s.
