South Philly Varmint

When Joe calls me after he’s left for work, it means one of two things – he’s forgot something or he’s seen something crazy on his way to work. Such was the case yesterday morning when he spotted this fellow hanging about 7 feet from the ground on a fence in between 13th and  Broad on Washington Avenue.

I’ve seen a number of these in South Philly. I don’t know how they get here — whether they make it to the city on their own steam or whether they hitch a ride in a dumpster on it’s way into town. It looks well fed. Probably eats out of the dumpsters and community gardens.
