Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

A cookie jar classic, these chocolate chip cookies are wonderfully soft and chewy. They’re a favorite in our house!

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  1. Preheat oven to 350º. Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl, set aside.
  2. Put butter and sugars in the bowl of an electric mixer, mix on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Reduce speed to low and add vanilla extract and eggs, then add flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.
  3. On parchment lined baking sheets, drop heaping tablespoons of dough two inches apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until edges are golden. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool. Store in an airtight container. Makes 4 dozen.
