In my opinion, Mother’s Day is for all of the women in my life – moms, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, sister-in-laws, neighbors, and friends – anyone who has lent a hand, an ear, or advice when needed on this journey called motherhood.
This is my eleventh Mother’s Day without my mom, who was kind, and funny, and just amazing. When we were in a store, I’d go to grab something and come back to find her in an animated conversation with a person I didn’t recognize. When I’d ask who that was, she’d say, “Oh I don’t know, just someone I met.” I used to tease her that she made friends wherever she went. In honor of my mother, I spend the week talking to people I don’t know – this morning was a lady at the deli counter in the grocery store, and an elderly man at Golden Donuts. You never know someone’s story, and your conversation may have brightened their day. My mom made the world a little kinder, and I miss her all of the time. Happy Mother’s Day!
And to you, lady! 🙂
Thanks Jim!
