Eric’s Mark I was one of many movie theaters that was in Center City Philadelphia that are now sadly gone. This is back when images from actual celluloid film was projected on the screen. That meant that the viewer had to deal with dust, scratches and the occasional dancing hair that got caught in the gate of the projector. It also meant that the audience would occasionally have to scream FOCUS if the projectionist wasn’t paying attention and the film was out of focus.
Here is Eric’s Mark I a few years after Being There had its run in movie theaters. I think it was a walk down to a single basement theater. I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark there late in the summer of 1981 shortly before I started art school.
