Of late the internet has proven to be fairly tedious so I fire up Affinity Designer on my old laptop and fiddle around with shapes and colors. In the time between my first cup of coffee and when I have to run out the door to work, I have fun playing Spirograph or a very clean version of spin art.
Stepping and repeating shapes and applying various blending modes result in happy accidents. I stumble across things I find visually pleasing.
These designs are in a vector format so they don’t take up very much room on a hard drive. I stow them away to maybe use them later as a background.
I do have a project in mind for some of these designs, but it doesn’t matter whether I use these in a project or not. It beats wasting time on the same old websites.
