A recipe for no bake bars in August is a good thing. Microwave the ingredients, press into the pan, and top off with chocolate and pretzels. It’s the perfect combination of sweet and salty!
- 1 – 16 ounce jar smooth peanut butter
- 1/2 cup butter
- pinch of kosher salt
- 2 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 – 12 ounce bag of semi – sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable shortening
- 1 1/2 cups broken pretzels
1. In a large bowl combine peanut butter, butter, salt, confectioners sugar, vanilla and light brown sugar. Microwave in 30 second intervals until the butter and peanut butter are melted. With an electric mixer, blend until smooth and press into an 8″ x 8″ pan.
2. In a small bowl, place the chocolate chips and shortening and microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring after each round until melted. When it’s smooth, pour over the peanut butter layer and sprinkle the pretzels on top. Let cool, and cut into small squares
