Orange Loaf

After suffering from holiday baking burnout, I was ready to get back in the kitchen! This orange loaf is moist because of the oil, rich from the sour cream, and flavorful from the orange zest. It didn’t last long around here!

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice
  1. Preheat oven to 350º. Coat a 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan with baking spray and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, mix eggs, vanilla, sugar, and zest. Beat in oil, sour cream, milk, and orange juice.
  4. Add the flour mixture, being careful not to over mix.
  5. Pour batter in the pan and bake for 50 minutes. Let cool in the pan on a wire rack – remove from pan and cool completely.
  • 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
  • 2 – 3 tablespoons orange juice
  1. Whisk the sugar and orange juice in a measuring cup. Drizzle over the bread.
