Friday Flashback: Dracula’s Dirt!

Wear the Dirt of Dracula!

This is an interesting post from a while back featuring an oddball piece of jewelry in the form of a necklace with a small glass coffin charm containing a small sample of earth from Transylvania! This was sold by the mail-order arm of Warren Publishing known as the Captain Company and was advertised in their comics and magazines such as Creepy, Eerie, and Famous Monsters of Filmland.

Don’t miss out on the comments! A reader details the strange story of how the earth was acquired for the little casket.

    LOL, still strange even today…

I think that hunt for the next big sensation that everyone must have is why there are so many flea markets overflowing with merchandise. This certainly was an odd item. Maybe the guy thought he would be capitalizing on the Broadway Dracula play that was a big hit in the 1970s.
