Sunday Matinee

Frank Rizzo on Broad Street
It’s 1982, and I’m walking North on Broad Street not far from the Philadelphia College of Art where I was attending at the time when suddenly former Mayor Frank Rizzo appears larger than life. I’m not sure if there was … Continue reading

Philadelphia Lawyer
Gosh, I hope not! This is the quality of graphics you could expect from a tabloid newspaper in Philadelphia around 1980.
What I Miss About Comics…The 98lb Weakling Epidemic

Gaiety Sandwich Shop
Another one of my art school photos from Philadelphia in 1982 although I didn’t really intend this shot to be art. We would get these assignments to shoot some subject matter or other, and rather than waste shots, I would … Continue reading

What I Miss About Comics…MONSTER S-I-Z-E MONSTERS
I miss the lurid ads with the offers that were too good to be true. If Mom came through with that check or money order, would you have really received a 7 foot tall monster-sized monster that would have impressed … Continue reading

Ode to a Long Gone 5 & 10¢ Store
This is a shot I took back in 1982 at around the same time I took this shot recently used by Philadelphia Magazine. This Woolworth’s was on Chestnut Street just off of Broad. It had everything you could want from … Continue reading
