I’ve been bopping back and forth between digital illustrations and hand drawings of late enjoying both which is kind of weird. It feels like working digitally and by hand are two different skill sets requiring different ways of thinking. I thought it would be tricky juggling both analog and digital at the same time, but here I am.
In this post I will be dealing with my more typical doodles which are pencil and ink on paper — real world stuff.
The Boy is a huge fan of soft pretzels, so it wasn’t difficult to talk him into making pretzel rolls with me. These rolls are delicious on their own, and they make fabulous burger buns! You can freeze the leftovers (if there are any leftover) by wrapping them individually in plastic wrap, them placing them in a gallon freezer bag or an airtight container. Continue reading

My punk rock monster, The Teenage Beast, continues to haunt my sketchbooks as I piece together a story through doodles and develop an approach to the illustrations. I’m still figuring out where the story is going and what materials will serve me best.
We had a surplus of sweet potatoes hanging around in the cupboard, which turned out to be the inspiration for Saturday night’s soup. Simmered with carrots, celery, and onions in chicken stock – it was the perfect complement to our grilled cheese sandwiches. Continue reading
